Who is OË?
OË Projects is the design platform of Veerle Willems. Inspired by nature’s organic, clean lines, she creates interior and fashion objects with a playful
rhythmic twist.
Veerle Willems is a designer from Montenaken, a village in the Belgian province of Limburg known for its 2000 year old Gallo Roman tumuli. Surrounded by history, nature and agriculture, she lives with her husband Koen and teenage daughter Zoë, who, as a tiny toddler, used to call herself Oë. Cute, right?
Fun fact for the language buffs among us: Zoë is a Greek word for life, Veerle’s main source of inspiration throughout her professional journey. During her career in natural health care, she studied our kingdom of plants and admired not only its healing properties, but also its aesthetics. Her love for nature’s wonders and for organic design triggered Veerle to turn a bracket fungus into a wooden wall lamp and an allium giganteum into a supersized sculpture. OË Projects was born.
Currently, Veerle is studying traditional and contemporary design methods and working with lasercutting and 3D printing, while experimenting with recycled materials. Because Mother Nature can use a little help from her friends.
